About Karla Whelchel

After graduating high school in Escondido, California, Karla received her certification as a preschool teacher and taught for 5 years. She then went on to operate a successful in-home daycare business for 3 years while raising her family.

After moving to Arizona in 1994, she received her certification as a CNA, which began a career in the health care field. Her compassion and empathy towards others were developed through her experiences working in hospice care. For five years, she served as a Unit Manager for Hospice, working with families and patients, and providing in-services to staff members.

Eager to broaden her knowledge and experiences in health care, she took an administrative position at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale in 2000, while continuing her education in Health Care Management.

In March of 2004, Karla founded Safe Harbor Support, Inc. As its' founder, she has worked hard to raise awareness for the growing need to help those suffering loss from auto accidents.

One of the ways she is doing this is by providing regular in-services to police, fire, and hospital departments throughout the valley. Not surprisingly, she has received an overwhelming response, and the sense of urgency to expand Safe Harbor's services is growing.

Karla's most recent passion is being a transformational Life Coach. She works with individuals and groups experiencing loss, waking them up to live life more fully.
